"Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy." On pense à Rûmî (1207-73): "Beauty surrounds us, but usually we need to be walking in a garden to know it."

Autres citations d'Anne Frank:

"Il est très étonnant que je n’aie pas encore abandonné tous mes espoirs car ils paraissent absurdes et irréalisables. Pourtant je m’y accroche, malgré tout, car je continue à croire à la bonté innée de l’homme." / "In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can't build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death."

"La paresse peut paraître attrayante, mais le travail apporte la satisfaction." / "Laziness may appear attractive, but work gives satisfaction."

"Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!"

"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be."

"How true Daddy's words were when he said: all children must look after their own upbringing. Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands."

"It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart."

"We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same."

"Je dois défendre mes idéaux, car peut-être que le temps viendra où je pourrai les réaliser." / "I must uphold my ideals, for perhaps the time will come when I shall be able to carry them out."

"Riches can all be lost, but that happiness in your own heart can only be veiled, and it will bring you happiness again, as long as you live."

"I think it's odd that grown-ups quarrel so easily and so often and about such petty matters. Up to now I always thought bickering was just something children did and that they outgrew it."

"I feel wicked sleeping in a warm bed, while my dearest friends have been knocked down or have fallen into a gutter somewhere out in the cold night. I get frightened when I think of close friends who have now been delivered into the hands of the cruelest brutes that walk the earth. And all because they are Jews!"

"Is discord going to show itself while we are still fighting, is the Jew once again worth less than another? Oh, it is sad, very sad, that once more, for the umpteenth time, the old truth is confirmed: What one Christian does is his own responsibility, what one Jew does is thrown back at all Jews."

"There's only one rule you need to remember: laugh at everything and forget everybody else! It sound egotistical, but it's actually the only cure for those suffering from self-pity."

"Les morts reçoivent plus de fleurs que les vivants car le regret est plus fort que la gratitude." / "Dead people receive more flowers than the living ones because the regret is stronger than gratitude."
