The titanic, myth of the past and myth of today

For once, in english... In this american city, there is for two years an exhibition bout the Titanic... The Titanic... Oh dear, it sounds a little bit mythic, and a little romantic. But it`s like the other legendary tales, you know, it`s all fake... Beautiful boat, a dream for the poors, a pleasure for wealthy people, a sort of social melting-pot. It was the most luxious, the fastest, the most modern boat of the young twentieth century. It was a dream, symbolic of the industrial era, of the power of men and machines. At this time, the humans were fearless, brave and... stupid as well. The boat sunk, a stupid iceberg in the sea. A myth was born and a plot for money-makers in Hollywood, so-called the dream factory. But our time is like this time. We do not care about nature, about the edge, the limits of progress, of stuffs we build and we create. The Titanic is also a myth of today, because it symbolises how we can forget the lessons from the past and the dangers of unconsciousness... Global warming, cell-phones, micro-wawes etc. The Titanic is definitely a symbol of today... Maybe it explains why this exhibition is so sucessfull...
