Launched in March, 2008, Mediapart is France's first fully-independent, ad-free news website, updated three times daily, seven days a week. The editor-in-chief is Edwy Plenel, former editor of the French daily Le Monde.
With an editorial team of 25, Mediapart places investigative journalism at its core, with the focus on French politics, the economy and other significant issues of public interest. Now established as one of the leading, news agenda-setting media in France, Mediapart continues to grow with the launch on October 1st of a service in English.
Mediapart English brings a varied selection of the site's reports, translated from French by experienced, professional journalists from the Anglophone press, and offering an essential insight into France and French society today.
Because Mediapart carries no advertising, its revenues are from subscriptions only. After an introductory and free access period, Mediapart English will become available to subscribers only.

Very very interesting things to do with english's news too. I'm looking forward the 1st october and also, I hope it's available for french subscribers???
Lancement officiel de Mediapart English, vendredi 1er octobre, 13h !! Accès entièrement gratuit dans un premier temps, puis pour les seuls abonnés de Mediapart. Et contributions du Club en anglais plus que bienvenues. A vendredi.

Sans oublier que sociologiquement dans ce pays, l'anti-américanisme est très perspicace, vivace encore. Qui dans l'inconscient majoritaire de l'hexagone ne s'animose pas à vrai dire contre l'Amérique (sauf récemment depuis les staliniens en France) mais plutôt contre la Grande Bretagne en fait. Faits de d'histoire.
Jane d'Arc nous renseigne sur cela pourtant, mais, c'est LE PEN qui rend hommage à sa memoire chaque année; le 1er mai de surcroit.

Que je sache, le livre de Howard Zinn "Une histoire populaire des Etats-Unis" ne s'est pas mal vendu. Et un nombre croissant de Français s'intéresse à Noam Chomsky. Ce ne sont pas les citoyens des Etats-Unis qui énervent, mais bien plutôt la classe dominante de ce pays. Et puis, quoi de honteux à désirer garder sa spécificité ? C'est drôle, moi j'ai plutôt l'impression que c'est le contraire qui se passe, qu'il y a beaucoup de Français fascinés par les "States"... Du moins dans certaines catégories de population (à talonnettes par exemple). Mais c'est moins un pays qu'ils admirent, que la réussite des dominants. Ce qui est une attitude de larbins.
D'ailleurs, pourquoi supposez-vous (presque) tous que cette partie soit exclusivement destinée aux Britanniques ou aux Etats-Uniens? D'habitude on assure que l'anglais est le passeport indispensable pour communiquer aussi bien avec les Chinois que les Polonais ou les Hongrois (etc...)

According to my information the book by Howard Zinn "A People's History of the United States" did not mis-sold. And a growing number of French is interested in Noam Chomsky. They are not citizens of the United States who irritates, but rather the ruling class of this country. Anyway, it is not shameful to want to preserve its culture, refuse to lose its identity. IMHO, on the contrary, a lot of Frenchs are fascinated by the "States". But they just do not admire acountry. They respect the dominant people, their success. And this is the attitude of servants.
If you (we) want a truly democratic and independent press, the information should not be free, or paid by advertising. I wish a very very long life to Mediapart.
As a student, I really enjoy being able to read the news from France in English, especially in Mediapart. It is a very useful, interesting linguistic tool for all who want to improve their fluency in English.

Mediapart is an excellent vehicle to keep abreast of French news... I have recommanded it to my American friends.
One question for you: I have began to post English articles (such as an evaluation of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization on the New Governance) or translations (interview with Grandjean on financing the ecological transition ) on my blog with Mediapart, how can they appear in the list of items to read for the English reader of Mediapart?
