The Myanmar Project: Streets of protest (2)

Since the military coup on Feb 1st, hundreds of thousands of people have taken the streets to express their anger at the electoral steal and their wish of a federal democracy governed by civilians. These pictures are the fieldwork of recent graduates in journalism who are now covering the protests from all around the country. In the second series, Salin in central Burma and Lashio, Shan state.

    08/02/2021 - People marched in line in Salin, a small township in central Burma, to protest against army general Min Aung Hlaing takeover of the country a week ago.

    08/02/2021 - In Lashio, Shan State, a monk was seen leading the protest march against the military coup. More than a decade ago, some monks already took the streets to support people's protests during the so-called 'Saffron Revolution" in 2007, which was brutally repressed.
