14/02 - In Muse, Shan State, protesters incriminate China's perceived influence on Myanmar politics. The sign in Mandarin reads “Kai Feng Fu”, a historical reference to the capital of Song Dynasty. The man in the black suit with a crescent marked on his forehead cosplayed the Governor of Kai Feng, Bao Zheng, well-known for his supreme justice and integrity. The Myanmar Project: Streets of protest (6)
Since the military coup on Feb 1st, hundreds of thousands of people have taken the streets to express their anger at the electoral steal and their wish of a federal democracy governed by civilians. These pictures are the fieldwork of recent graduates in journalism who are now covering the protests from all around the country. In the seventh series, two weeks in Muse and Lashio, Shan State.
