Because of dishonest m2epro developer, eBay sued for millions.

More and more companies rely on remote licenses. What if a somewhat sadistic software company decided to kill enterprises not because they did not pay their license, but because they don’t like some of their customers or just out of fun? That’s exactly what’s happened with m2epro from ess-ua. It goes better: See, eBay pay them to support and give for free this vital and unique extension allowing sync between Magneto and eBay marketplace.  In return, the ruined victims of this very funny prank sue eBay, since they wrote on their magneto website anyone could have this add-on for free.

The story begins with LaFactory Comicshop: they used Magento and bought m2epro ($200) to build their commerce. With the eBay agreement, essay asked them to switch to the 3.X Free version. But they had so many bugs (for exemple, the comma worked wrongly) LaFactory Comishop told ess-ua they should label their new software as alpha and warn their customers about it. They were pissed of, and they killed their license. They blacklisted their domain name. And when a couple years later they changes their domain name, they blacklisted their IP, meaning all the customers sharing that IP were not able as well to use that “free” license. And they killed as well their 2.x license,  legitimately bought from them. At last, the beast that noticed too many bugs was ruined. But wait, is there still some life in it? Maybe, since we can read on the eBay magneto website:

As a part of our partnership agreement with eBay, it is currently provided free of charge. And furthermore, FREE support and updates are also included.

It’s pretty clear and straightforward: eBay own La Factory Comishop a license, they cant have it, they are ruined, hence they sue eBay which already told them quite nicely to “bark” somewhere else. Yes, that’s the word eBay, in the mouth of Michele Johnston: “Bark”. Their customer (powerseller and top reliable on eBay) is a dog making annoying noises. Hence the lawsuit…
