It's Biden's shame walk to the middle east. He will soon hug Mohammed Ben Salam (MBS) the de facto ruler of Saoudi Arabia. MBS is responsible for the brutal war waged on Yemen by his dictatorial kingdom and allies. Among a long list of misdeeds, he is also responsible for the gruesome murder of WaPo journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Is the oil price worth that complete surrender of bare minimum ethics?
But Biden also insults a second journalist's family by helping Israel getting away with the murder of American-Palestinian Shireen Abu Akleh by Israel's army. Is there in history any case of wrongful death of an American journalist when the US sided with the country directly responsible of the murder in denying blame? Press freedom, moral standards and human rights are shredded and stampeded to gain a few cents on gas prices. Biden's choice and behaviour is utterly disgusting and, if history serves, won't even get him the votes he seems to be after.
Even those who had few expectations and hopes for the Biden presidency to promote decency and ethics in foreign policy will be abashed by such a despicable decision to officially forego any moral standard.
Shame on Biden for this.
