WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who scored a major victory in a series of Super Tuesday nominating contests, has been criticized by some in his party for being vague on policy specifics and heavy on rhetoric.

Here is a closer look at what Trump has said he would do on trade, taxes, the economy, immigration, healthcare and defense should he become the nominee and win the Nov. 8 election. The policies are drawn from a review of his website, stump speeches, debates and town halls, and televised interviews.

TRADE

Trump has complained that China, Japan, Mexico, Vietnam and India are "ripping us off" by devaluing their currencies and keeping out some U.S. exports.

He would not sign the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact and would renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Mexico and Canada.

He would designate China a currency manipulator and impose countervailing duties on its exports. He also wants to pursue a World Trade Organization case on Chinese government programs that subsidize exporters.

Trump has said he would put activist investor Carl Icahn in charge of negotiating a better trade relationship with China. Icahn has said he is happy to advise Trump, but would not seek a formal position if Trump were elected.

Trump has said he would slap 35 percent tariffs on air conditioners made by United Technologies Corp's Carrier in Mexico after the company decided to move production there from Indiana, and on Ford Motor Corp vehicles made in Mexico that are sold in the United States.

TAXES

Trump has pledged to cut and simplify taxes. Individuals making less than $25,000 per year and married filers earning less than $50,000 would not pay income tax.

There would be three other brackets, down from seven currently, with a top marginal income tax rate of 25 percent, and a top rate for long-term capital gains and dividends of 20 percent.

Charitable giving and mortgage interest deductions would remain unchanged. Other deductions would be trimmed in the highest tax brackets.

He would eliminate the alternative minimum tax, the estate tax, and the carried interest tax break that allows investment fund managers to treat income as capital gains.

The corporate tax rate would be cut to 15 percent, down from the current level of 35 percent.

He would phase in a "reasonable cap" on deductions for business interest expenses and would cut other corporate loopholes.

Trump would impose a one-time 10 percent "deemed repatriation" tax on deferred corporate overseas profits and would end deferral of income from foreign subsidiaries.

The Tax Foundation, an independent policy research group, has said Trump's plan would cost more than $10 trillion over the next decade. His campaign has said the plan is fully paid for.

ECONOMY

Trump has pledged to get rid of the $19 trillion deficit by boosting jobs, and cutting government waste, but he has not released a formal policy paper on how he would do this.

He has said he would not cut the Medicare and Medicaid health care programs for senior citizens and low income Americans, nor Social Security retirement benefits.

He would cut the Education Department and the Environmental Protection Agency.

IMMIGRATION

Trump has promised to build a high wall at the southern border to keep out illegal immigrants that he has said would cost $10 billion to $12 billion.

Mexico would pay for the wall or face consequences, his campaign said. Trump would "impound" remittance payments to Mexico from undocumented workers, and increase visa and border crossing fees for Mexican workers. Applying tariffs on Mexican goods and cutting foreign aid are also "options," his campaign has said on his website.

He would deport the 11 million undocumented people living in America and end "birthright citizenship" for children born in the United States to illegal immigrants.

He has called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States and would not allow refugees from Syria.

Trump would triple the number of border agents and require all businesses to use the E-Verify database to ensure employees are in the country legally.

He would withhold federal funding from "sanctuary cities" that decline to help the federal government deport illegal immigrants.

Trump's campaign has also said he would "pause" new green cards and require employers to hire American workers first.

HEALTH CARE

Trump has said he would repeal the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, and replace it with a system of health savings accounts.

He would still require insurers to provide coverage to people with preexisting medical conditions, a key feature of Obamacare.

He would move to allow insurance companies to sell plans across state lines to spur competition.

Trump has said he could save the government $300 billion by negotiating better prices with drug companies.

ISLAMIC STATE

Trump has promised to "knock out" Islamic State quickly and said he is open to working with Russia to do so.

He has said he would "bomb the oil" that helps finance the insurgent group and stop the "back channels of banking" used by the group.

He has vowed to bring back the use of waterboarding, an interrogation technique that simulates drowning and has been banned as torture under U.S. law. He said he also supports other, unspecified techniques "a hell of a lot worse" than waterboarding.

He would "take out" the family members of Islamic State militants and would like to shut down "areas" of the Internet to try to stop the group from recruiting members.

He wants to build a "safe zone" for Syrian refugees in Syria. But Gulf states would have to pay for it.

He has said the United States should first deal with Islamic State before addressing President Bashar al-Assad's future, saying "We have to do one thing at a time."

He has questioned whether the United States should back opposition groups in Syria, saying "we have no idea who they are."

DEFENSE

Trump has said he would increase the size and power of the U.S. military to make it "so strong, so powerful that nobody's going to mess with us."

He says too much money is wasted buying equipment the military does not want.

He wants Japan, Germany, South Korea and Saudi Arabia to bear more of the cost of military aid provided by the United States. "We can no longer defend all of these countries," he said, citing the deficit.

Trump would boost the U.S. military presence in the East and South China seas to "discourage Chinese adventurism," according to his website.

I see some folks don't think Trump could deliver on any of his ideas due to a lack of support from Congress. Maybe he intends to use executive orders like Obama does to circumvent congress.
Or maybe when Trump is elected and gets finished gathering up dirt on all the "good ole boys" in Washington, I have a feeling they will be more than happy to cooperative with Mr Trump. Many could face outright prosecution and they know it. This is why both Democrats and establishment Republicans are so frightened by the possibility of Trump as Commander in Chief.
So you ask,"Why would he not just play the game for his personal gain like all the rest?" Easy answer. Pride.
The very thing people try to hold against him will be the number one reason he will work as hard as he possibility can to do exactly what he has said he would do. Somehow, if given the opportunity, I suspect he will be 85-90% successful in fulfilling what he has said he would do and 100% sure you will see some surprising names filling up minimum security prisons across this Great Country.

There is no way that trump would accomplish even 5% of what he has "promised". His "promises" are for the gullible. I guarantee that he would work on issues from which he would benefit. He is totally about what can he do for "trump".
That said, I don't believe that he will be elected. His followers are right wing nuts who have no clue about our political process. Election results are generally determined by the centrist independent voters; since they actually think before they vote, I can't imagine that they would vote for a demagogue.

Mr. Trump had said about USA Renaissance, and a lot of us would like to hear more about how he would spur both public and private sectors to rebuild and innovate this great country. For example, he said he would get rid of federal EPA and save 6 billion dollars a year. The same amount of funding could be used to build the state of the art urban waste to energy plants around country, recovering 60-80% of energy and converting almost all toxical wastes into harmless with zero emission. As long as USA keeps building and building baby build, Americans may see the good future for themselves and their children.

The World is a Global Market. If we want to play hardball, the World will play hardball. We do not produce anything they need. Cars are built outside of the USA, planes are build outside of the USA, food is grown outside the USA, electronics are grown outside the USA. We may be the ones who get isolated under Trumps ideas. Be careful of what you wish for. If we do not sell oil abroad, oil can be found outside the USA, and the oil industry will crash and you may find yourself paying upwards of $10 for a gallon of gas. Plastics prices will rise, since other countries can make plastics and replace the USA. The world needs nothing we have.
Much comes out of Trumps mouth to get votes. His ideas sounds wonderful, until you really think about the backlash that can happen.

Pretty good group of ideas. When he says sliminate a federal agency like the EPA or Education dept. he means the FEDERAL departments. Republicans generally think that those responsibilities belong to the states, individually. Renegotiating the tax and tarrifs would immediately send US workers back to work. Punising the employers that employ illegals would eliminate their jobs. That is what will make 11 Million ILLEGAL immigrants move back home.
We won't need armed tactics to move them out they will go on their own.

Congress shall regulate commerce. Congress is VESTED to legislate and /or amend The Constitution. The Preamble / The Intents and purposes to of The (entire) Constitution of The United States of America clearly indicates: We the People in order to form more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity definitely includes educating our posterity. Yet, the 9 members of SCOTUS members are 5/4 divided as to the Constitutionality of many things. Congress is VESTED to legislate and /or amend The Constitution that SCOTUS has to uphold thereof. The tyranny against The Constitution of The United States of America has got to stop. Once We secure our borders and get our own house in order, charity begins at home, we can help others. SCOTUS has disrupted domestic tranquility. Likewise, a Canadian born running for President of The U.S. and illegal immigration, with benefits, is a sure sign of a Canadian, U.S. and Mexican Economic Union to of tyranny to of human trafficking and human slavery, to which the 1% is to profit, not the average U.S. citizen.

the problem is that if he ever gets in...all his ideas about changing the world will evaporate in front of hordes of Democrats and Republicans that are equally bought and paid for by the status quo and won't let any real change occur unless it lines their constitutes pockets. Tax reform...the carried interest loophole...that will never go anywhere. Not him, not Bernie, no one is taking that away. Especially when Trump has to go to big business with his hat in his hand to ask for help on China...watch them laugh and get favors in return. That's politics...

Regardless if Trump gets elected there will be no way Congress nor the Senate will allow many of his ideas and as President he will quickly understand how it works. Eventually he will get it. But unfortunately like Rome. Trump is this country's voice on people distrust in Govt Spending, Overregulation Taxes Immigration problems and unfair trade . He is definitely has the pulse of fed up Americans that dont like excessive spending, failed embassy defense policies, unsecured email controversy's overtaxation of our countrys companys(which is why they move to other countrys with the jobs-stupid! Just plain stupidity with our elected officials and mostly democrats and republicans that dont get along with each other -A very divided government. NOthing gets done.

"Trump has complained that China, Japan, Mexico, Vietnam and India are "ripping us off" by devaluing their currencies and keeping out some U.S. exports."
With that statement alone, Trump has managed to eliminate over 50% of the world's buyers of U.S. made products.
My view is this: Make trade SIMPLE and EQUAL:
If a country imports $1 billion of USA products
    then
USA will import $1 billion of their products
    else
USA will import no more than any trading partner country.
No need for two thousand page trade agreements. A = B = Trade.

Adjustments to what he said that are realistic:
    1. the wall will never be built but there will be more LE and more illegals sent back. Obama administration actually sent back more than anyone else. I heard 2.5M either last year or in his administration.
    2. corporate taxes will not be cut without cutting some deductions for special companies like sugar, peanuts, oil, accelerated depreciation. The cuts need to be paid for. Rate could go to 19% but not 15%.
    3. Defense gets a bigger part of the US budget every year and that simply cannot continue. Defense accounts for ALL of the federal revenue. Trump will try to get $$$ from counties we help but will fail and my pull those troops and DOD budget will be flat.
    4. personal income tax - deductions will be cut, AMT eliminated, special rates like carried interest eliminated, but rates may need to be a little higher than he likes just so the deficit does not go too high. Remember #$%$ Cheney said "deficits don't matter", what a baffoon he was.
    5. Trade deals will be renegotiated. Trump will play hardball with other countries and with Congress. The GOP for too long has done nothing in Congress. they go on political witch hunts instead of looking at federal business practices. Agencies have a field day because Congress does not pay attention to ANY operations because they are have just been politically motivated for 5 years. Trump will push Congress to do some real work and they will be shocked.

Reading the above, Trump is sounding like the rest of the GOP establishment politicians... I don't see anything in his plans but the continued transfer of wealth from the middle class to the super wealthy via our taxes...we already spend 40% of the entire world's military budget, more than the next 10 countries COMBINED, including China and Russia...50 cents of every federal discretionary tax dollar goes to the military-industrial complex (as Eisenhower predicted)...as for healthcare the US private sector, disease for profit system cost 3X more than any on the planet to rank 39th in care, the most costly and predatory system in existence...being an independent I was considering Trump but if these are his only plans he is losing me...as for college, the government makes $48B a year charging usurious interest to the middle class trying to get their kids through college...that's a crime though not as big as our predatory healthcare system!

Look at the money we currently spend on education and the continuous reduction in performance. Of course there are the Type A's who will out perform in any environment. Still, so many people are fitting in the "no-child-left-behind" group who are just getting a diploma and reading at a 9th grade level.
Standard continue to degrade unless you are privatized with ungodly costs for enrollment or vouchers are used to allow schools compete for the heads.
There is simply no amount of money that can turn many inner city schools. The government has no control. This is very similar to trying to fix an drug or alcohol addict. It is the student's choice to what more. It is their choice to excel even in a war zone. It is our choice to allow them to exit those failing schools and pursue excellence. Not hold them back.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s personal finances will be used against him in the general election if he wins the GOP presidential nomination, political analyst Dick Morris told Breitbart News in a story published Wednesday.
“In the general election, Hillary [Clinton] will feast on the records of Rubio’s personal finances,” Morris told Breitbart.
“His abuse of his Republican Party credit card, his sweetheart home equity loan from a corrupt banker who went to jail, and his co-ownership of a foreclosed property with a former Congressman who was forced out of office will all be key issues against him,” Morris said.
Morris said in a recent column that the party establishment and Fox News Channel are “trying to shove Marco Rubio down the throats of the Republican electorate,” but that his background will hurt him if he wins the nod.
Morris said Rubio’s financial issues have been mostly ignored during his campaign.
“Republicans must demand the truth from him before they trust him to carry their choice,” he said.
Rubio has consistently brushed criticism of his finances aside as “discredited attacks” by Democrats and his primary opponents, Breitbart notes. The website lists several issues in Rubio’s past that have been reported on.
He used a state GOP charge card for personal finances. Rubio says he reimbursed the party for all personal charges.
He bought a $550,000 home with a $55,000 down payment in 2008, and one month later got a home equity loan after having it appraised for $735,000. Rubio says the appraisal was legitamate, but critics say it could have been an attempt to curry favor with a politician.
A year earlier he sold his first home for $205,000 profit to chiropractor who had been lobbying him over a state insurance issue.
He also owned a home with David Rivera, described in Politico as a “scandal-plagued former Congressman under investigation in a federal campaign-finance probe.”
He never or rarely showed up for his job as a visiting professor at Florida InternationalUniversity, but did raise money for the school during that time.

Over 95% of illegals come to USA for ONE reason: Employers hire them.
Those who come on legal visas and overstay are equally illegal.
NOTHING will stop illegal migration or visa overstays if employers keep hiring them.
No fence, no navy, no aircraft surveillance, no individual tracking system, no matter how many border guards, no submarines....NOTHING will stop illegals if you hire them.
How to STOP illegal immigration and save taxpayers expense:
Ten year prison sentence for employers of illegals WILL end the migration. Period.
Why doesn't any of the candidates tell the TRUTH.
Anchor babies are a direct result of employers paying illegals for work.
I challenge all candidates to address this ONE reason for illegal immigration for over 95% of the illegals. TRUMP INCLUDED. All are lying about walls, fences and all that garbage.
Walls are extremely effective only if there are 5000 machine guns supporting them.
The Berlin Wall was effective. The Palestinian:Israeli wall is effective.

Every single presidential candidate makes bold claims like this. Then, once elected, they are debriefed, and told the reality of being president, and the realities of the economy, wars, trade, etc. Every president comes out of that room a changed man. And none of their policies they talked about as a candidate come to fruition because they realize they have no chance of success in the real world. You can get elected by telling people you'll put soda machines in the hallways, but in reality, it ain't happening.

I don't follow Roberta, but for those that are attacking her for this piece, stop. She lays out what Trump has said he wants to do, and she cites references of his speeches, campaign trail stumping, debates and his web site. She also offers no opinions, really, just lays out details in 1 place. I call that journalism. Now, if in other articles she slams him, well, comment on those. I don't really get a negative vibe from reading this.
Nearly all of what is laid out here makes sense, with 1 glaring exception, and that exception is one that Trump really needs to explain and perhaps retract (although, retraction is not his strong suit). His stance on "banning Muslims" is just plain and simply wrong. I am a white, American-born, non-Muslim, and I find this statement horribly offensive. I work in an industry filled with Muslims -- of all levels of religious practice and from a variety of Muslim subsects. They are all just like the rest of us. Some are racist, some carry their cultural biases around still (like many of us do). However, what none of them are is dangerous. They are all legal. The ones from Iraq hated Sadam Hussein with a passion. They bought us lunch when he was captured. The Iranians are no different.
I could understand a stance of putting a hold on ALL visas, and closing our borders to ALL incoming foreign travel for a defined period to allow the US to get a hold on the process. This would be a NIGHTMARE, and the government would actually have to have a plan first. It is also impossible to do. But, to single out a religion, is simply wrong. As a US citizen, he is allowed to have this opinion. But, as a presidential candidate, he cannot speak about this opinion, nor speak of making a policy based on it.
I also understand that Trump's campaign as largely been about saying somewhat shocking things and seeing what "sticks". He may believe everything or nothing that he says, which is probably the biggest issue. But, with the anti-muslim rhetoric, I believe he has stepped over a line, and I think he needs to address it.

On health care, Trump's primary proposal is to ensure competition among ALL health insurance companies in ALL states. This is excellent but insurance companies do not like that.
Trump's secondary proposal to repeal Obamacare is not going to happen because insurance companies DO NOT want Obamacare repealed. The evidence of this is health insurance stocks have risen an average of 275% since Obamacare was signed into law.
Summary on health care: Not going to happen because congress will NEVER repeal Obamacare because insurance companies LOVE Obamacare. FOLLOW THE MONEY and you'll see the truth.

If people are having a difficult time paying for health insurance, where are they supposed to come up with money for a health savings account? When you buy health insurance you are accepting the fact that 20% of your premium will go to administration and profit for the insurance company, [ this is a much lower percentage than b/4 the ACA when insurance companies were taking as much as 35% for administrative and profit]. All that being said the cost of health insurance is not the problem, it is the cost of HEALTH CARE which increased at triple the rate of inflation from 1980 to 2013.

Give coprorations a fair tax to pay and they will bring over seas money into the US which will help our economy, 10% is fair and more then we are getting now! Build the WALL, I would love to have someone explain to me why we should NOT protect our boarder. Do we allow boats to pull up to NY harbor and people walk freely into the country from Europe? If Cruz and Rubio are the best that the Republican party can come up with after 8 years then they do not have the right to say a damn thing! They have no body to blame but themselves. Bottom line, people are sick of the easily offended victims in our society making everyone else cow to their P.C. bs. Trump talks common sense and not political speak like all the life long politicians do.

Please don't establish tariffs and start another depression like we did in 1931. If we can't adopt the FairTax because of stupidity, then start by slashing the U.S. corporate income tax, which is the highest in the world. Next, eliminate the taxation of foreign earnings when they are repatriated into the U.S. Continue by cutting the capital gains tax, which reduces the amount of capital formation. Finish by applying reason to the onerous regulations emerging from the unelected bureaucracy, such as the EPA. Do these and domestic jobs won’t be a problem.

I believe Trump has a great opportunity to win the Republican nomination and the White House. I have no problem in his straight talking points as he is resonating with the public in a big way. He has my support over these wussy PC so-called "establishment" Republicans with no spine! He is his own man and has a platform without special interests influences. No one is the perfect candidate but I believe Trump is our best option to change what is currently wrong with America.
Straight talking Trump current has my vote over these Republican wussies that hide behind amnesty!
Trumps comments were correct and the truth is hard to swallow for those entering our County illegally which violates our laws and makes them criminals!
People are basically fed up with all the romanticizing of people coming into the country illegally and going to the front of the line. When you have a government at any level that rigidly enforces every nuance of the law on its citizens, but willingly and openly bends those laws to accommodate illegal aliens, all that it does is breed cynicism toward the government and resentment of the illegal aliens who get preferred treatment. Place Americans First as Americans are being killed by people who shouldn’t even be here. Trump 2016
