It seems a lot of non US banks are being taken to the cleaners by the US Department of Justice.
Best if they cut their losses and withdraw from the US market and continue to trade with whoever they want.
If Hollande does not back them then threaten to go bankrupt and see the finance storm that will explode in the EU.
$10 billion heist will help bankrupt US economy. US is mad 1) France will build ship for Russia and 2) France gov't favor Germany's Siemen's bid to buy Alstom energy over US's GE.
France trying to act like a sovereign nation; that's a no no.

if these transactions were not done going through US channels and from france it should not be a violation of US law this is a violation of the US world law.
Dont pay US a dime they are just extortionists.
s ee if they sanction france. they will be loosing some allies and gaining more enemies which is good.

@Le Ruscino "Who get this money & Why?"
The U.S. government gets the money. They get the money because BNP Paribas violated U.S. law for about a decade and were fined as a result. It's important to realize that BNP Paribas does business in the U.S and has assets in the U.S. To see this another way, what if an American company was doing business in Russia and violating Russian law? Do you think Putin would say, "Well, it's an American company so they don't have to follow our laws."

Bankers have no loyalty to any country. Even if they are citizens of one, or two...or three. They will sell anything to anybody. They can't resist money. Doesn't matter how they get it (overthrow countries for natural resources using someone else's military). They just know that they want more of it. It's in their genes. The banker motto: Lie, cheat , and steal. Have you read about the boer wars and how the swej used the english military to steal the gold and diamond mines from so africa? They're using the us military now to get what they want. Nigeria's oil etc...Those poor girls? What a farce.

Who died and made the USA GOD? It's about time that banks and corporations sunk some of their profits into armaments, especially nukes, and told the USA where to get off! The right to bear arms is the right to be free! It's past time to tell the US gov't to mind their own business and leave everyone else in peace, or else!!

Heads rolling? Justice? Or multi million dollar payouts for the crooks?

Just tell the French they all have to defer their retirement by 6 months to pay for this and there will be a revolution.

On 9 August 2007, BNP Paribas became the first major financial group to acknowledge the impact of the sub-prime crisis by closing two funds exposed to it. This day is now generally seen as the start of the credit crisis and the bank's quick reaction saved it from the fate of other large European banks such as UBS.

French made Russian aircraft carriers, and now the US want to teach the French a lesson, and i always thought they were great friends and allies :):):)
Mistral isn't a Aircraft Carrier.
If that is to pressure or punish the French on those ships, this will backfire. BNP is the european bank with some 60 billion Euros most exposed to Russia. The russians let them stand in the rain, they need a gov. bail-out, oh i forgot, in Europe we d that anymore we do bail-in's now, regardless wether or not the US is going to wipe out their earnings.
Terry Jobity 06.06.2014 16:01
BNP Paribas should now sell out lock stock and barrel to Gasprom lets see the d.o.j. go after them. Lavrov once said,US likes to make deals, and afterwards start padding on.Never a truer word has been spoken.

Keep going, nothing wrong with having banks bleeding. On a second note, everyday you here about sanctions, fines, new regulations, etc. in the centally planned in the economy of the US. Keep doing that as well.
