June 9th - Tulle
"A day of rest (sort of). Escape from the dreaded treck through the bucolic frog-landscape. Of course the sun hide its lava infested face all day. Forcing me to do my photos after an hour long wait, only to be bestowed a 30 second interval of light to get the shot done.
But…Tulle, you magnificent bastard, you gave me alcohol, François Hollande, food, long uphill climbs to magnificent views, I won’t judge your bitchy weather.
Tomorrow another eternal march towards endless green hell. 3 more days…You can do it you whiny asshole! Where is a car? a horse? a goddamn dogsled??? Grrrrrr..." Kourtney Roy

June 10th – Tulle to Beynat
"It’s hell here, a nice hell, but still hell.
First day walking with Alain.
Finally someone to help me carry all of my equipment!
Stopped for lunch in Ste-Fortunade at a small oasis. A beautiful fountain filled with fish.
When the wind turned against us we would get the spray off the fountain, full of fish piss and shit, but refreshing nonetheless.
Still the kilometres passed under our feet at a speed I had not seen when carrying my full load. Arrived at les Hameaux de miel. A small ray of sunshine in this cursed voyage.
A beautiful lake, a beautiful beach. Went swimming despite the overload of goddamn children in the water. I am sure I drank their piss. I don’t give a rat's ass, the water was fresh and my massacred feet found a respite in this asphalt inferno.
Dinner sitting next to what seems to be 12 year old parents with their kids. Looks like not much to do around here except sleep with each other." Kourtney Roy

June 11th – Hameaux de Miel to La Chapelle-aux-Brocs
"Smaller walk today, only 15 km. Saw lots of dead things on the road. A hedgehog, a flattered snake, a squashed lizard, and about a thousand petrified butterflies. Must be some sort of metaphor for this trip (which is coming to an end in 2 days, thank christ !) Started collecting the butterfly corpses as I slowly progressed. Morbid? Maybe.
Have arrived at another little patch of paradise amongst all the hills and roads and more hills. (I climbed to 1500 metres yesterday's apparently, not sure if it’s true, but it sounds impressive). One more day of walking. How I managed this without destroying myself is truly a beautiful miracle. I shall drink to that tonight. I shall also drink because it helps me forget where I am (Nowhere). The hotel mini bar is stocked with beer, the Dutch owners are lovely and once again I am the only guest!" Kourtney Roy

June 12th - La Chapelle-aux-Brocs to Brive-la-Gaillarde
