Eh bien...après plus d'une heure du Président à la télé, je ne sais toujours pas si nous sommes sauvés de la crise ou pas...? Par contre, je sais qui se présente aux élections présidentielles en 2012 pour la majorité. Le discours du Président confirme la bonne vieille règle: rien de mieux qu'une guerre en temps d'élections. Alors, la crise de l'Euro, ce n'est pas une guerre, mais l'effet est le même. L'épouvantail d'un effondrement de la monnaie européenne et le chaos que cela entrainerait fait très peur. Le Président se pose en vaillant capitaine, à la barre du navire en plein ouragan. "Nous ne désignons pas de fautifs, pas de bouc émissaire, mais ce n'est pas moi qui ai fait les 35 heures," dit-il, "et ils veulent embaucher 60,000 enseignants!" peste-t-il. La réaction de la gauche est assez prévisible, Henri Emmanuelli du PS, dénonce le sommet de Bruxelles comme un "Munich financier".

The Crisis... or Vote for me!
Well, after more than an hour of listening to President Sarkozy on TV, I still am not sure if we are saved from a catastrophic financial crisis...but I do know who is running for president for the UMP party in 2012! The President's speech and attitude confirms the age old adage: nothing like a war during the electoral period. Okay, the Euro Zone financial crisis is not a war, but it is having the same effect. The bogey man of the collapse of the Euro and the economic chaos that this would cause is very scary! President Sarkozy is playing the role of the valliant sea captain at the wheel of his ship, rocked by a violent storm. "This is not about designating a fall guy," he says, but points out that he is not responsable for the law that imposed a 35 hour work week in France during the Socialist government of Lionel Jospin, "and how are they going to pay for an added 60,000 teachers...?! asks the President. (A campaign promise of François Hollande.) The reaction of the Left is fairly predictable, Henri Emmanuelli (PS), denounces the Brussels summit as a "financial Munich".
