Dear brothers, sisters and friends
My mission at CCIF has come to an end after an intense year in view of the sad state of affairs and the damage being caused in our society by the normalisation of racism and the growing number of terrorist attacks which are being confronted with cynicism by “our elites”.
Even if I have already told them, I would like to once more thank the volunteers, attorneys and my colleagues at communication and fundraising with whom I have worked relentlessly and been a witness of their sacrifices. Their companionship and professionalism have been exemplary.
As I am now free of any commitment with this organisation, I am now moving on with my work at the grassroots level with NGO’s and activists fighting to protect civil liberties, institutions, academics and by taking part to public debates, both in France, Europe and abroad. Needless to say that nothing will change, but my label.
I entertain no high hopes for the coming months. The 2017 presidential campaign in France will be made on the back of the dominated ones, starting with Muslim citizens whom will, along with others, play the role of the scapegoats to divert attention from the betrayal of France by its elites, a political system in ruin and the country’s putting under tutelage by a handful of individuals. It is more necessary than ever to look ahead and I will do so with all the goodwill whom are sensitive to fighting islamophobia and all forms of injustices in general.
If some of you have believed in me, just be reassured of my loyalty and that I will not fail you. We have such a long way to go together and I hope that I will find you by my side.
My work in the defence of human rights and civil liberties has already continued. We are all affected by islamophobia for it is beyond question that Muslims are the first targets of these successive unfair policies and that each time laws of exception were adopted against them, it was only a question of time before they are applied to the rest of the population. The current state of emergency in France, the Patriot Act in the US or the Prevent program in the UK are just some of the most striking examples of the common threats we’re facing. Should we fail to make our struggles converge, we are bound to go nowhere.
I will finish with what I wrote in my farewell email to my colleagues. I am leaving an organisation’s cabin, but not the vessel.
No door closes without another one opening
