The International Court of Justice fails humanity and international law

In cases of genocide, the paramount legal obligation is prevention. One way to prevent it is to stop the flow of lethal weapons to Israel, as the General Assembly has demanded. The ICJ is short-changing the world.

This is not the first time that the International Court of Justice fails humanity and international law itself and cops out. The judges are backpedaling on their own jurisprudence concerning provisional measures.

In cases of genocide, the paramount legal obligation is prevention. One way to prevent it is to stop the flow of lethal weapons to Israel, as the General Assembly has demanded. The ICJ is short-changing the world.

The failure to issue provisional measures in the Nicaragua v. Germany case allows Germany to continue delivering arms to Israel which is committing genocide in Gaza.  This is contrary to the precautionary principle.

Article I of the 1948 Genocide Convention imposes a positive obigation to PREVENT genocide.  The ICJ fails the litmus test   https://icj-cij.org/sites/default/files/case-related/193/193-20240430-pre-01-00-en.pdf

There is no doubt that not only Germany, but the US, Canada, UK and France are complicit in the genocide because all of them have delivered the weapons used in the genocide. The ICJ non-action is incompatible with the erga omnes obligation to PREVENT
